Bryce Canyon

Tropic is nestled within Dixie National Forest. It is within arm’s reach of Bryce Canyon which also hosts many incredible views that are a must-see while visiting. These include the Anasazi State Park and the Escalante Petrified Forest. Bryce canyon attracts, on average, over 2 million visitors per year, with the busiest part of the season from June to September.

Roughly 60% percent of visitors are from the USA, while the rest are from various international countries, with a large majority from Asia. Most visitors stay for just 24 hours and stay within 50 miles of the park. Sunset and Sunrise Parks are the most frequented locations within Bryce Canyon. Bryce Canyon generates almost $250 million annually from tourist spend.

Places to Hike

Bryce Canyon has a lot to offer in terms of hiking. Trails range from 2 to 5 hours to complete. These trails are highly recommended for those that have time to explore. The trails that come highly recommended include the following:

Scenic Ride Share

Bryce Canyon Park contains 5 miles of, scenic, 2-lane, vehicle-free road connecting the Visitor Center, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, and Inspiration Point. This road is open to cyclists, leashed pets and pedestrians. Check out the map for more information.

Horseback Riding

Guided horseback riding is an activity for the whole family. The typical ride time ranges from 2 to 4 hours. It is offered throughout the various seasons not including winter. Camping

Bryce Canyon offers two areas for camping. The North campground is open year around and offers both RV and tent site rentals. All of their sites are limited to a maximum occupancy of 10 people. Both the tent and RV sites are priced at $30/night. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as the campground can get busy.

Sunset campground is only open seasonally, generally from mid-April to end of October. They also offer both tent and RV sites at the same rate as the North campground. Reservations should also be made before your stay here.

Best Time To Visit

Bryce Canyon is generally in its peak season during the summer, June through September. Alternative times to visit, still with good weather, are during May and the latter part of September. Also visiting the park sites during sunrise and sunset, one can avoid the large crowds.
